Leaving the Tehachapis and heading for the Mojave on Sept. 4, 1990, AT&SF 5254 was Amtrak 635, a SDP40F built July 1974 and became a Santa Fe SDF40-2 in September 1984, BNSF 6964 in March 1998, and retired in May 2002.

Pretty rare consist with an "SDF40-2" leading and a presumably DIC GP9 trailing.  Do you have an approximate date for the photo?

The date was Sept. 4, 1990.
