These 3- body articulateds were called "Jitter Bugs" and originally were 5000 series cars. Only four were built in 1947, two by Pullmans numbered 5001 and 5002 and two by the St. Louis numbered 5003 and 5004. Bob Date: 05/14/22 19:56 Re: A CTA Jitter Bug Being Swift in Skokie Author: Atlpete These were great fun to ride, pretty noisy too and you got the full effect of the motors moaning up during acceleration as the car's interior were open across all three carbodies and the articulation of the carbodies over the two middle trucks amplified the motor noise, as well as presenting an interesting pair of swiveling discs on the floors between the end and middle sections. I mourned the loss of the North Shore but the Skokie Swift was a fascinating remnant of that line.
