Nostalgia & History > BC&G RailbusDate: 05/18/22 12:25 BC&G Railbus Author: refarkas How thankful we can be to have modern photo editing software. Here's an example of what once was so backlit as to almost be a black blob.
Ed Treesh photographed this Buffalo Creek and Gauley railbus in an unknown West Virginia location in mid-1958. Bob Date: 05/18/22 22:58 Re: BC&G Railbus Author: shortlineboss What happened to the rail bus?
Mike Root Madras, OR Date: 05/19/22 00:14 Re: BC&G Railbus Author: Evan_Werkema According to The Shortline Doodlebug and http://www.buffalocreekandgauley.com , BC&G had two railbuses, A and B, but the machine in the photo above doesn't match either of them.
A was a 1921 Mack AC Omnibus with a Brill body originally built for the Lewisburg, Milton & Watsonville and now preserved on the Strasburg RR in Pennsylvania: http://www.buffalocreekandgauley.com/LOCOMOTIVES/BusA/RailbusA.html B was a 1920 product of Four Wheel Drive Auto with a body by St. Louis Car Co. originally built for the Kanawha Glen Jean & Eastern. It supposedly also still survives according to this page: http://www.buffalocreekandgauley.com/LOCOMOTIVES/BusB/RailbusB.html The railbus in the photo looks more like a Mack AB railbus, but the style of the front grill is unusual.
