BC&G Railbus
Author: refarkas

How thankful we can be to have modern photo editing software. Here's an example of what once was so backlit as to almost be a black blob.
Ed Treesh photographed this Buffalo Creek and Gauley railbus in an unknown West Virginia location in mid-1958.

According to The Shortline Doodlebug and http://www.buffalocreekandgauley.com , BC&G had two railbuses, A and B, but the machine in the photo above doesn't match either of them.

A was a 1921 Mack AC Omnibus with a Brill body originally built for the Lewisburg, Milton & Watsonville and now preserved on the Strasburg RR in Pennsylvania:

B was a 1920 product of Four Wheel Drive Auto with a body by St. Louis Car Co. originally built for the Kanawha Glen Jean & Eastern.  It supposedly also still survives according to this page:

The railbus in the photo looks more like a Mack AB railbus, but the style of the front grill is unusual.

I nteresting - I called this a Buffalo Creek and Gauley railbus because the box of slides said BC&G.
