Not many buildings have survived from the San Antonio & Aransas Pass era but here is one in Rockdale that was a freight station.
This was on the old SA&AP line to Waco (later operated by SP).
I'm guessing the building dates to the 1890's.
Another fine example of the master bricklayers at work.
It's still there today as a private residence.
SP abandoned the line though Rockdale in 1959.

Is that the original roof line?  Looks odd.
