Early BNSF . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   in APR '03, BNSF was experiencing a power shortage in the Los Angeles area. A number of GP50's were rounded up and mated up in sets of five to take stack trains east out of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, CA. Here, I had a freshly serviced set of five out of Commerce Diesel headed for the ports that necessitated a photo stop at the north end of the Alameda Corridor at CP East Redondo.

A great photo of what looks to represent all the different BNSF GP50 schemes at the time.  Was this set going to power a train eastward on the Transcon, or rather shuttle power to get the train out to the Yorba Linda/Santa Ana Canyon area?

These sets of power were for transcon trains.
