Great location for morning photos, after Amtrak goes by not so much. Date: 08/01/22 09:10 Re: Oh that was you.... Author: photobob When did we take these Clive? I remember we chased that SP train south. Thanks for taking me up there.

"Back in the day" yes, after UP times not so sure. Traffic pretty much dried up. During the latter part of the 80's things got a little friendlier. Idk if this was in part to the ATSF&BN starting to put the pressure on the UP or what. I am sure there's a better answer out there. I know during this time they hired quite a few people in Klamath Falls and were working with the ATSF to exploit the Inside Gateway again and within a few years the BNSF merger happened. That was the first thing I noticed! Date: 08/01/22 23:27 Re: Oh that was you.... Author: TCnR Suspect BN on the main had something to do with switching the silo, sometimes BN handled it, sometimes the SP handled it, don't know why. There's been comments on TO as to that effect as well, one of the missing TO subscribers worked the Mowich through the years, great resource.
Found a SPINs chart showing the silo as Tulana Farms. My photo was on 35mm slide, don't have it with me. Those were the days of trying to catch the BN F-units before the GP39's took over, looks like GP39's in the consist. Never did catch BN F-units on the Inside Gateway. Author: coach Can someone explain 2 of teh signals to me: the closest one with the small signal on the bottom, and the distant one with an off-set, smaller signal light below the high signal?

Author: spladiv If those side mounted single indication signals displayed a flashing yellow aspect then the indication was restricting and you could pass the signal at restricted speed. See Rule 289. There are/were single indication signals which displayed a flashing white/lunar aspect and the special instructions told you what that meant at that specific location---such as the famous one at Black Butte. My guess here was to allow movement by a red absolute signal without stoppping while switching or cutting helpers in or out type thing. Common on the SP.
