Nostalgia & History > Crawford's Notch - N.H. 109 yrs ago!

Found this print and scanned it today-- Taken by my great - great grandfather dated 1913. Other prints are of Echo Lake and Swezsy's(sp?) Lane.(Dirt road through a forest of white birches), New Hampshire.
I think the North Conway still travels this line!
Can anyone confirm / add some detail?

Confirmed!  Conway Scenic Railroad operates it's Mountaineer passenger train through this location, which is called "Gateway" by the railroad.  It's just east of the Crawford Notch station.

Pretty neat! I've always wanted to check that out if I ever make it that far east. 

Here is an eastbound (I think) view of the approach to the Frankenstein Trestle taken in 2007. Short excursion trains to Crawford's Notch from N. Conway still run, to the best of my knowlege.

The Conway Scenic Mountaineer runs May to November.  It's an all-day excursion from North Conway to Crawfords, and in the fall continues a few miles further to Fabyans so passengers can get a clear view of Mt. Washington and the famous Mt. Washington Hotel.  Consist is generally 5-7 cars, including two domes.  I just saw an Instagram post that they're planning on running "classic EMD power" this weekend on the Mountaineer - that likely means ex-B&M F-units 4266 and 4268.  Here's a shot of 0-6-0 7470 working upgrade at Frankenstein Trestle in 2019.
