Joe Date: 08/05/22 09:33 Re: Pacific Parlour car 39970 Author: DavidP Nice - the PPCs were the last really meaningful innovation Amtrak introduced on a long distance train - 27 years ago! Here are a couple of pics of the Columbia Valley on January 27, 2018, just before the axe fell. At the time PPCs were only running twice weekly.
Dave Date: 08/05/22 09:53 Re: Pacific Parlour car 39970 Author: SPJoe Rode the Starlight from Sacramento to Los Angeles and back in 2012 and really enjoyed getting the chance to spend a little time in a PPC with some great views along the way.

I guess it was free with the purchase of a sleeper ticket, so there was nothing to refund. It wasn't even overnight, it was a LA to OAK day trip.

Im bummed that my 2 trips in a sleeper were after it was discontinued. When I rode the coach passengers and their baggage pretty much engulfed the cafe lounge.

I never had a chance to sample that great service. Gary Date: 08/05/22 13:27 Re: Pacific Parlour car 39970 Author: SPJoe Thanks for all the replies. Here's a few more shots from the 2012 trip including a partial shot of a PPC menu, surfers catching a few waves and the downstairs theater.
