Photos from the Roosevelt Road Viaduct

1. N&W GP40 1372 with the inbound Orland Park Commuter Train headed for Chicago Union Station on August 25, 1977.  Note, the Burlington Northern Commuter Train Yard is empty, as it should be during the morning rush.

2. N&W GP40 1372 just departed Chicago Union Station with the afternoon Orland Park Commuter Train on July 3, 1978.  The GP40 was not turned.

Great photos, especially the morning shot.  8am is way too early for me to be out fanning, so that picture is much
appreciated.  When did the Orland Park trains begin running into CUS?

In the second photo, there are enough double-slip switches within a short distance to boggle the eyes and mind.

According to the nicely detailed history section of Metra's website, the Chicago terminus was changed from Dearborn Station to Chicago Union Station in 1976.
