Not really all that "old", as that was our last main-line excursion in 2017.  Nice video too!

My wife and I were in the second Amtrak car of the three. The passengers of the first Amtrak car had to be accommodated throughout the train because the heating system on it refused to shut off. Our car had doors that wanted to stay open as well. The temperatures that day were around the century mark. I don't know how this was resolved regarding the charges owed Amtrak, however I hope the charges were discounted after the trip for supplying faulty cars. The trip itself was very good. The 4449 was of course excellent.

I wish she could get main line time again... way better than anything Uncle Pete has going!

That was a great trip. A friend and I were in the Observation/Dome car. We both loved every minute of the excursion.

just watched for the fourth time Jim....LOVE the clean stack!!!    while there is always hope, think about all todays obstacles for doing this again......a GREAT memory....like waving at the rafters on the Deschutes River.....etc.......while this was a great trip, my favorite was following 9/11 the 4449 in AFT colors doing the Bend trip and ALL the folk trackside waving their American flags.....still brings tears.     Arlen

We were in the A car....aka the "oven". My thanks to everyone for their understanding and accommodating us.. yes the trip was fantastic despite the heat.

This particular video is actually the 2012 trip, for what it matters.

By golly, you're right!  that "extra" private car is not coupled ahead of the NP Traveler's Rest crew car, in 2017, in that video.
