ATSF SD45-2u 5823 built as SD45-2 5632 and became BNSF 6373 brings a train past Karl Miller's camera in the Tehachapi Mountains in October 1990.  The caboose is out of service.  Numbers lined out with a FRED on its coupler.

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say that by this date waycars were being phased out.
Given that there's a FRED hanging off the the rear, this waycar may have been unoccupied and was bound for disposition.
