On the old SP Bellaire Branch

On the branch at Clodine,Tx between Eagle Lake and Houston.
I liked this line. Barely past Houston you were out in the country on a nice branch with light rail dating to the teens and twenties.
An eastbound continues its slow journey to Houston in an area that is unrecognizable today (subdivisions, stores and concrete).
A couple shots of the track with a typical early date and one rough part.
A few years after these shots, the SP rebuilt the line as a one way alternative to help out the busy Sunset Route which also passed through Eagle Lake.
Unfortunately the line was sold to Houston Metro and abandoned in the early 90's.

Those are killer shots, Colusa had 1898 rail and was in better shape than that!

Wow, what a super look at an old SP Branch.  I like the "Spaced Rail"!

Fourth shot, isn't the spike supposed to go into the tie?

Judging from the headlight on the geep in photo #1, that is an ex- T & NO geep that didn't have a gyralight. How appropriate....
