The August 1966 issue of  'Pacific News'  featured a story of moving the Pacific Northwest Chapter's (NRHS) ex Union Pacific Lounge 1517 through Portland to its new home.  Eventually, it reportedly was moved to the  Union Railroad in Oregon?

Has this car been saved over the years, where is it today?  Thank you for any updates or clarifications.

Does anyone recognize where in Portland that photo was captured?   I sure don't.

Regarding the cover photo, the inside panel of this issue, reads:

"On our cover: Curving down onto Canyon Road for the first lap of a cross town trip carrying 57-tons of railroad car is the Autocar tractor beloning to Wilhelm Trucking." etc.  It goes on to read in part, after donation to the National Railway Hall of Fame in 1963 "The car was moved to a display site in Portland's Washing Park by the Portland Zoo, adjacen to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.  Later West Coast Airlines donated a retired DC-3 which bumped the 1517 from that display spot.

After the move in the photo, the car reportedly went to the Portland Terminal's Roundhouse long enough for a new track to be built at Oak Park to await display.
