Conrail in Jeffersonville Indiana from the 1980's
Author: srman

Other than transfer runs over the Ohio River to Louisville Ky. Jeffersonville Indiana was the southern terminus for Conrail and the former Pennsylvania. In 1994 Conrail pulled out and the Louisville & Indiana took up residence of the line. The track pretty much stayed the same for the first twenty years or so until CSX invested some big bucks a few years ago and today sees several freights either to Indianapolis or Seymour where CSX will then get on home rails and head east for Cincinnati. Attached are three images from Conrail power at Jeffersonville In. in October 1985 and December 1986. Of note things back then was easier to walk around and shoot whatever was around in the yard. Today not so much. If I shoot the LIRC today its out on the main. Thanks for taking a look at the Big Blue in southern Indiana.

Nice bunch from a rather obscure part of Conrail...

Thanks for sharing. Yes, looks much different now. The old PRR north of Louisville is probably busier now than it's ever been. At least for freight. Great catch!
