CR in the early 90's in NJ
Author: Pattenburg

Back in '90 and '91 hanging out around the Waterworks Bufflehead Road grade crossing in Bridgewater (NJ), a nice array of CR freights was always a constant at that location. Here are three images from that spot which, sad to say, is considered off limits these days.

Photo 1: CR 6578, a C30-7A, leads a mixed freight as it comes off the Trenton Line at Port Reading Junction on to the Lehigh Line in Bridgewater, NJ. The month is May, 1990. CR 6578 would eventually become NS PRRX 8125 before its retirement.

Photo 2: CR 6825 leads a mixed freight, possibly OIPI, west as it approaches the grade crossing in April, 1991. CR 6825 went on to become CSX 8696 with no idea as to its current status.

Photo 3: CR 6833 heads east with a general merchandise freight after crossing the Raritan River. On the left is possibly CR's local in this May, 1990 scene. As for CR 6833, it went to NS as PRRX 5477 before being retired.

Have an enjoyable Thanksgiving one and all!

Nice Conrail images. Never got enough time on that railroad.
