Just 3 Cabooses
Author: MartyBernard

1. Illinois Terminal caboose 982, "The Road of Personalised Service" on September 13, 1976 at E. Peoria, IL, Larry Anglund photo.

2. Phn Llc PHNX caboose 101, no location or date, Larry Anglund collection.  I hope somebody enlightens us about what we are seeing.

3. SSW bay window caboose 83 at Burlington, IA on October 19, 1978, Larry Anglund photo. That looks like a generator on the front wheel of the back truck and there may be batteries under the bay window.  What are the flat round objects on the sides of the bay window?

Vents. They are opened and closed from inside the caboose. Also used on locomotives from that era, mostly for the toilet compartment in the nose.

PHNX 101 is most likely an "escort" car for high-wide movements.
