MKT "cabless" booster 401B

Oct 77
In the Katy Eureka Yard at Houston.
Probably a repost but reworked them.
 Nice lineup - GP40 171, booster 401B, GP38-2 317 and red GP7 114.
The cabless booster made it down to Houston every once in a while.
It was rebuilt from a damaged F3 in 1974.
Today it is at the Red River Railroad Museum in Denison, Texas.

Really like your insightful scenes of an unsightly sight illustrating how though things were for MKT.
Most especially appreciate your close-ups of #401B; MKT was not going to waste an operable unit.
Thanks for your super photo posting.

Great images for the detail-oriented railfan/modeler.

Was there more to it than that?  As I recall, the 401 outlasted other MKT F-units by quite a bit.

Didn't this unit receive a 645 at some point? My memory fails me repeatedly these days.

New Haven did the same thing with the nose of one of their DL-109's, with even more awkward looking results.
