In 1958 we camped within 100 feet of the WP mainline in rural Nevada. Although I had no camera with me I fully expected to be awakened a few times in the night and see what the WP had to offer to a teenaged railfan. Up at 7 AM and not a single train had passed! Still don’t know whether I slept through them or if it was just a quiet night for trains.

Just transitionioning from their as-delivered appearance to early modifications and second paint-jobs. You can just make out the factory painted pilot stripes.

In this post card you can see one on the left of the engine and another one on the right. These show up in lots of Oakland photos over the years. Edited 1 time(s).
