Two recently painted Santa Fe units meeting in '79
Author: GreenFlag

On 9-30-79 caught these two freshly painted Santa Fe units meeting at Cajon. GP35 3301 was the rear unit on an eastbound helper consist and GP39-2 3628 is the lead unit on a westbound and is stopped waiting for a signal to proceed. GP39-2s were not common out west vs the common GP35.  The 3628 is stenciled for Argentine while the 3301 is for Barstow. Not sure why the 3628 has red on the outside of the wheels. Maybe they're brand new?
