Photobob rail fanning in Canada 1980
Author: photobob

I came on this old slide taken back in 1980. I was waiting to board the "Skenna" at Prince Rupert to go to Jasper. Man what a head of hair considering its just about all gone in the present time. Anybody out there that would post photos of their big hair period?

Bob those style jeans (briefly?) came back into style late '00s and those sneakers would qualify as retro chic basically any time over the past twenty years. Alas, the parka and the huge hair remain iconic 70's styles, as far as I'm aware.

I assume that Photobob was not in the Army at that time.  Gerry

That coat looks familiar. And I definitely had the tennis shoes & bell-bottoms. But I never quite grew a head of hair like that. By that age it was already going AWOL on me... :^(

Hey Bob - I'll take that challenge!  Here I am in 1977, at 21 years old, in Joliet Illinois with my namesake Rock Island car!  This car was rolling through on either the Peoria Rocket or the Quad Cities Rocket.  And, yes, I am wearing a Greyhound baseball cap.  I had worked summers for Greyhound loading bagagge and selling tickets.

I looked every bit a Californian out of context in Oklahoma in '76.  This was 24 on the way to OK City, employed as Assistant Curator with the American Freedom Train.  It's starting to be a very long time ago!

Nice photo of a Waukesha Ice Engine, virtually indestructible if the water pump was maintained.

All you need is a parka and a scooter!
