This is the beginning of a very long series of Amtrak photographs by the late Larry  Anglund and donated to the Iowa Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society.   The purpose is to get the photos seen and on the Internet.  I grabbed  bunch of F40PHRs to start with.  Hope you enjoy the series.

The R in F40PHR means the unit was built with parts from a retired SDP40F.

1. Amtrak F40PHR 310 leading the Empire Builder was built July 1979 with parts from SDP40F 602, became a Metro North unit, and was photographed September 16, 1979 in Chicago, IL by Larry Anglund.

2. Amtrak F40PHR 310 was built July 1979 with parts from SDP40F 602, became a Metro North unit, and was photographed October 21, 1980 in Altona, IL by Larry Anglund.

3. Amtrak F40PHR 312 was built July 1979 with parts from SDP40F 605, wrecked Big Bayou, AL September 22, 1993 and scrapped. She was photographed October 14, 1979 in Galesburg, IL by Larry Anglund.

6. Amtrak F40PHR 314 was built July 1979 with parts from SDP40F 598 and photographed April 30, 1981 in Galesburg, IL by Larry Anglund.

8. Amtrak F40PHR 317 was built August 1979 with parts from SDP40F 609 and photographed March 15, 1981 in Galesburg, IL by Larry Anglund.

9. Amtrak F40PHR 319 was built August 1979 with parts from SDP40F 583 and photographed July 24, 1980 in Galesburg, IL by Larry Anglund.

I've gotten hours of enjoyment from all the photos you post and l don't think I've ever thanked you. Your posts definitely don't go unappreciated, Thank You for taking the time to share these.
