Nostalgia & History > Box lunch delivery on a Southern excursionDate: 03/28/23 11:43 Box lunch delivery on a Southern excursion Author: gcm Sept 83
Behind two Southern FP7 units this was on a Lexington-Chattanooga roundtrip excursion. Looks like a mechanical door is open on the ex-Milwaukee dome-lounge car. Tommy Lancaster Catering provided box lunches - car by car - on the trip. Thanks to TO members for the location - Oneida, Tennessee. Excellent trip. Gary Edited 1 time(s). I'd never have thought to photograph the delivering of box lunches.

What service by the crew. Would the first shot have been from Southern’s open air observation “Lookout Mountain”, I think was the name. Thanks for posting such an interesting set.

Outstanding trip and have many memories from those trips most of it hanging out the vestibles like in your shot. Always remember that first trip southbound as we stopped in Oneida for that Tommy Lancaster box lunch while the 611 took on water and coal. Lot of us jumped off the train to photograph the action as it rolled by us then back on to Chattanooga.

That might have been from the Lookout Mountain car. Gary Date: 03/29/23 03:45 Re: Box lunch delivery on a Southern excursion Author: gcm Thanks for the location as Oneida, Tennessee.
