Nostalgia & History > SFe Chief at Dearborn -- says 1949Date: 05/22/23 09:42 SFe Chief at Dearborn -- says 1949 Author: timz The 3/49 Guide at Timetableworld.com says
the Chief carried a 4-4-2 from PRR 29, a 4-4-2 and a 10-5 from NYCent 25, and this 6-6-4 from B&O 5. Anyone seen a pic of the Chief with a B&O sleeper? Chicago (Illinois), Chicago B & O train station - AGSL Digital Photo Archive - North and Central America - UWM Libraries Digital Collections The four windows closest to us on the 6-6-4 are the bedrooms? Their windows have to be smaller than the roomette windows? Is the next sleeper a NY Central 10-5? Says this is the Chief at Pasadena Pasadena (California), The Santa Fe Chief at Pasadena Station - AGSL Digital Photo Archive - North and Central America - UWM Libraries Digital Collections Assuming it is Pasadena, guess it has to be the Chief -- not that many pics if it with FMs. Looks like it is indeed the Chief -- with a couple of NY Central sleepers, crossing Highway 138 El Cajon (California), automobiles and railroad train at El Cajon Pass - AGSL Digital Photo Archive - North and Central America - UWM Libraries Digital Collections Still with the FMs at Raton Raton (New Mexico), railroad train at station - AGSL Digital Photo Archive - North and Central America - UWM Libraries Digital Collections The FMs made it to Chicago Chicago (Illinois), railroad tracks with Chicago city skyline in distance - AGSL Digital Photo Archive - North and Central America - UWM Libraries Digital Collections One for the boxcar fans Chicago (Illinois), railroad train with Chicago city skyline in distance - AGSL Digital Photo Archive - North and Central America - UWM Libraries Digital Collections This one's a puzzle -- he's on the train looking SE (?) at Fishers Peak, so what's in the foreground? New Mexico, view of houses with mountains in distance - AGSL Digital Photo Archive - North and Central America - UWM Libraries Digital Collections Presumably not a station platform, and there wasn't a paved road that close to the track, was there? looks just right. Seems odd that the foreground street was paved then. Date: 05/23/23 19:53 Re: SFe Chief at Dearborn -- says 1949 Author: dan us 85/87
