.1.  Passenger train at Berkeley Station.
 2.  SP 4-8-4 4488 (former Cotton Belt) was used at end of commuter steam.
 3.  geep locomotive in West Oakland

4488 is no doubt retired when this photo was taken.  No more train indicators or lighted number plates next to the headlight.

Wonder if the first pic was after 1/55, when
28 quit running to Chicago.

Last pic must be the Grand Ave ex-IER
overpass in the Desert.

Thanks for the replies  The overpass is a short distance to the bay & Berkeley Yacht Harbor (name used in the 1950's)..Other direction is straight shot to UC Berkeley (CAL).

SP 4488 was in a short deadline of mothballed steam locos at Taylor Yard,  Los Angeles, in the late 1950s.  GS4 4437,  2-6-0 1744,  SD&AE 105 were a few others as I recall.

The 4488 wasn't on the commutes for very long in mid-1956.  Some references suggest it only made one round trip to San Jose on June 25, 1956, but evidently there was an article in The Trainline claiming there were more - anyone know the issue?  See this old thread for more photos and discussion:
