Nostalgia & History > F Unit Friday - Classic Rio Grande Power On SP Mina Branch In 68Date: 05/26/23 08:49 F Unit Friday - Classic Rio Grande Power On SP Mina Branch In 68 Author: FiveChime Classic branch line power with leased DRG&W F units working the SP Mina local in 1968.
These Fs were based at Sparks and as I recall, intially ran as a A-B-B-A consist, although, in a 1969,visit, I noticed they got mixed with other SP power. nor quite the Fs but still interesting. Out Date: 05/26/23 09:41 Re: F Unit Friday - Classic Rio Grande Power On SP Mina Branch In Author: ExStarlightHog Must have been a pain for the hogger to have to do switching with full hood units. These units were obviously designed for forward movement only.

It is featured in Joseph Strapac's Rio Grande Diesels book and has extra hardware added for a switchman to ride on.
