Author: RuleG Burlington had F3s painted silver which were assigned to the California Zephyr. I don't know how long they lasted in passenger service before, presumably, being reassigned to freight service (and receiving a new paint scheme and being renumbered).

Author: CPR_4000 IIRC the Burlington did have a few passenger F3's, but these are freight units. No water fillers that I can see, so no steam generators. I think the passenger units would have been numbered in the 9900's.
Here's a pair of NYC F3's with coupler covers: https://www.american-rails.com/images/16159914u57h59030958750940.jpg Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/26/23 18:36 by CPR_4000. Author: PHall Actually Burlington had three F3 A-B-A sets 9960A,B,C - 9962A,B,C that had been brought for the CZ when the train started.
They were withdrawn from the CZ in 1955 and converted to freight service with the removal of the steam generators and water tanks. Date: 05/27/23 05:34 Re: Were these Q F3s built to pull passenger trains? Author: Spoony81 RuleG Wrote:

The CB&Q passenger F's kept the 9900 series numbers when they were put into freight service Date: 05/27/23 06:08 Re: Were these Q F3s built to pull passenger trains? Author: timz So the F3 in the pic was built to pull freight, with coupler covers? Any other RRs do that?
