Nostalgia & History > Switcher Saturday: A few from St LouisDate: 05/27/23 07:45 Switcher Saturday: A few from St Louis Author: King_Coal The St Louis area still hosted some unique small operations in 1978.
1) Illinois Terminal 1512 was tied up on a industrial spur in Granite City Illinois in April 1978. Norfolk & Western would take over in 1981. 2 & 3) Manufacturers Railway served the large Anheuser Busch brewery on the south side of downtown St Louis. They hosted an unusually clean roster of Alco switchers, inclued the 209, 207 and 210 photographed in July 1978. Sad that today that'd be vandalized or under a half-inch of dirt before the paint was dry.
