Nostalgia & History > Fifty or More Years Ago - N&W 1607Date: 06/01/23 07:45 Fifty or More Years Ago - N&W 1607 Author: refarkas N&W 1607, 1601, and 1606 are in Brewster, Ohio in October 1972. An N&W FM H12-44 and a WM locomotive are around the turntable.

Before the government allowed the Chessie System to absorb the WM, there was some real competition as many Norfolk & Western Trains came down the WM into Baltimore to the WM Port Covington Terminal. Yes, I realize that the B&O had already owned the majority of WM stock, but as the Chessie System, they should have been made to sell those shares.
