Nostalgia & History > The only time I ever saw a AT&SF Freight F unit in Denver,Date: 06/02/23 10:22 The only time I ever saw a AT&SF Freight F unit in Denver, Author: randyr Folks:
During a spring snowstorm in March of 1976, I was poking around the "joint line" in South Denver, where it briefly parallels I-25. I stumbled across this very unique Santa Fe consist. I was so excited to see F7A 275, that I didn't notice the other locomotives in the same consist until years later while looking at the scanned slide. Like the GP7 B unit and the GP7 painted in the new yellow bonnet scheme . With the wider stripe on the bottom, I wonder if the F7B was a repainted passenger unit. This was my only encounter with a Santa Fe Freight F unit while growing up in Denver. It didn't help that I didn't get a drivers license until 1974, and only started driving around Denver later that year. 1) GP20 3146 leads the consist 2) Close up of F7A 275 3) Other end of the consist, notice repainted GP7 2699 Thanks for looking, Randy in PHX Date: 06/02/23 10:25 Re: The only time I ever saw a AT&SF Freight F unit in Denver, Author: dan real lucky

Yes, there were only like five of them(2788A-2792A). And I don't remember ever seeing one in Colorado. Only encounter I had was down in the Texas Panhandle. So you were really lucky.
