Nostalgia & History > ICG train in Laurel,MsDate: 08/01/24 07:43 ICG train in Laurel,Ms Author: gcm June 1978
A pair of GP40 units have arrived in Laurel on the ex-GM&O (ex-Gulf Mobile & Northern) line from Mobile. Looks like they are getting ready for some switching. I'm pretty sure this line is gone today. Gary ![]() Date: 08/01/24 10:47 Re: ICG train in Laurel,Ms Author: texchief1 Great look back, Gary!

Roger Durfee Cuyahoga Falls, OH Date: 08/01/24 11:21 Re: ICG train in Laurel,Ms Author: dcfbalcoS1 Extra ties and rail that will probably never be used as they are there ONLY if it is absolutely necessary to get by. One point is missing from the switch in front of the gondola, probably used somewhere else to get by. Quite a number of things dumped off where ever handy. That depot is missing a few parts here and there also, a bit drafty and wet in rain storms. Way to many tripping hazards to count and plenty of rodents or worse in some weeds.

Bob Date: 08/01/24 15:54 Re: ICG train in Laurel,Ms Author: Roadmaster It's a pleasure to see this photo. The line was gone by the time I first went through Laurel in the mid-90's. I did get to go under the GM&O overpass (with GM&O lettering) across US 11 north of this location; that overpass has been removed, too.
