You weren't kidding that these were interesting diesels!  This is the first I've seen an ex-Southern SD45 with a CNW herald on it, and that engine to the left in photo #6 is interesting with the missing logo.  I do not believe I have seen the CNW SD40 in full VMV paint before, either.
