Fairmount is where the Milwaukee Road Fargo branch crossed the Soo Line east-west route. The two photos show the Milwaukee Road depot at Fairmount, and the second photo is a Soo Line locomotive and crew in dead of winter at Fairmount.

My father was the depot agent for the Milwaukee in the late 40's.
