L&HR #12 at Maybrook
Author: choochoochas

Lehigh and Hudson River 4-8-2 #12 at Maybrook New York taken by my Father Harry R. Lange on a New Haven RR fantrip in the late 1940s. I thought it was very interesting that several railroads like the New Haven had fantrips for railfans. All those people taking photos in busy rail yards. I guess there wasn't a problem with railfans filing lawsuits but just enjoying the opportunity of photographing the locomotives and railroad facilities back then.  I believe the New Haven ALCo PAs seen in the background were the power for the railfan special.

Instead, the railfans attended these events in suits!

Great photos!

That's a big engine for a small railroad!  And that tender would seem to rival the coast-to-coast tenders that the Pennsy had.

Agreed, although the tender looks a lot like the "Centipede" tenders the UP had.  And thanks for posting all these photos your father took.  It's been very interesting to see them.
