Nostalgia & History > Where's this? (LIRR 30+ years ago?)Date: 01/07/25 16:26 Where's this? (LIRR 30+ years ago?) Author: timz So far I haven't figured out where LIRR interlockings were
https://www.flickr.com/photos/dpirmann/36625599654 Sort of assume it's on the Main Line west of Hicksville, but it's not New Hyde Park, and I can't find those houses at Merillon Ave, and Mineola didn't have crossovers, did it? No underpass so not Carle Place -- dunno if Westbury is possible. Was its westward platform wester than the eastward? Does the Montauk have this much straight track anywhere? Those two distinctive houses in the background are still there on Fleet Place just north of DeMott. Likely closer to 50 years ago - the M1s went into service at the end of 1968. The two car train might be a test or training run.
