I've been enjoying these photos of your father's.

Were the cab roofs wood lathing on the inside of the Alco RS (RS-1?) units? Looking at the image, it really struck me how the cab shape and construction of these seem to bridge between steam and diesel.

Very neat photo of a very new-looking RS1!  Wonder what the hogger thought of it in comparison to the steam he ran for many years...

Yes I believe it was wood lathing under the metal cab roof on those ALCos.
