Anyone know?

Date: 01/10/25 14:11 Re: The Broadway Limited Flat-End Observation Cars Author: Englewood Thank you for the beautiful photo from my onetime home away from home.
Much had changed by the time I was there ! Date: 01/10/25 14:17 Re: The Broadway Limited Flat-End Observation Cars Author: Englewood It looks different because it is only a portion of the usual 4 track PRR style signal bridge.
The westbound home signals at Englewood were on a 4 track bridge at State St. There were also signals for movements with the current of traffic closer to the Rock Island diamonds. The one in the photo is for track 4 the WWD freight main. The signal for track 2, the track the Broadway is on, was on a mast a few yards from the diamonds. Date: 01/10/25 18:12 Re: The Broadway Limited Flat-End Observation Cars Author: ironmtn Two splendid images, but the first one is absolutely classic and takes the prize - one of your very best ever. For this Pennsy fan, an image of an era and a scene that unfortunately I never had a chance to see. Oh, how I wish....
The Broadway still looked good (and so did Englewood Union Station) in this scene about six years before Amtrak in 1965. As did one of my favorite observation cars. I have always been partial for some reason to flat-end observation cars (although I sure the like the boat-tails too). Thanks much, Marty! Thanks for sharing it.
Also nice to see the Mountain View in the second slide. |
