UP CA-7 class caboose 25444 brings up the rear of a westbound Modoc Line train near Copic CA.  Slide mount says SEP 83.  UP 25444 would be retired 7/23/88.

Mike, that caboose number rang a bell for me. In the summer of 1977 I was working the brakemans extrabord at Boone IOwa. while working a night switch engine on the west end of the yard we side swiped this caboose, not very much damage, but enough to get an investigation. The foreman got days, I didn't recieve anything or the engineer, our investigation ended and another investigation was immediatly started on the foreman for missing a call a couple of days prior to this kangaroo court. I think he got 60days total, CNW didn't want him around and went full force to get him off the property. KCRW287
