NH #1383 had a problem late 1940s

New Haven I-4 pacific #1383 at the Waterbury CT. roundhouse taken by my Father Harry R. Lange. Notice at the front of the locomotive there is an open space caused by the locomotive breaking through the roundhouse wall. Unfortunately nothing on the negative sleeve to indicate the cause of the loco moving forward without stopping before hitting the wall.

Yeah they do that sometimes when the cylinder cocks are closed, a leaky throttle, reverser not completely  centered and no wheel chocks.

I hate it when that happens! However it IS better than ending up in the turntable pit.
