These were all second hand.  Note the various railroads for which they were built.  RR Picture Archives lists 40 of them.  There may have been more.  A&M also had some C422s and C425s.

#420 was Guilford 420, D&H 401, Conrail 2077 and L&HR 29.

420 was since renumbered to A&M 58.

Great memories Marty.  This was my first visit to the A&M and I got 6 C420's leading the northbound Monett turn at Washburn, MO on 7-16-08.  Number 66 was in the lead and it was the second unit in your 10th photo.  Ex D&H 412 nee Lehigh Valley 412.

Great sequence!

I remember when they started out I was curious to go see the Alcos, but being a kid without a driver's license and it being a long drive from Topeka, I had to live vicariously through photos in magazines. I suppose the Centuries have mostly been replaced by ACes now. Thanks for posting.

Loved it that this Centuries were put to work doing what they were built for.  Do we have a list of which ones are still on the A&M and which/where the ones no longer needed have went?  Hopefully a few have been saved, either by museums or by other shortlines....

Thanks,

Dan
