Otto Perry (Denver based mailman) sure got around in the 1930's producing stunning images of Colorado railroading.  Denver & Rio Grande Western RR train 2 double header at Minturn, Colorado, was a great catch.

In 2025, this line is railbanked by Union Pacific.

3610 is a helper engine, not double head.  It has been added to the train at Minturn and will cut off after conquering  Tennessee Pass.

Yeah, not bad for just being a mailman! He must have used his vacations wisely.

I look at pictures like this and the work of Kindig and others and visualize what it was like to just be there and see what they saw and experience it live. How incredible that must have been. Thank God they photographed it!

Just for fun I googled October 25, 1936 and it was a Sunday so he would have had the day off.  It would be interesting to figure out how many of his photos were taken on a Sunday.

Apparently I have too much time on my hands.

That would have been quite the ride going over TP.  I'd probably have been DoW... ("Divorced on Welfare")  LOL.

But you forget, he traveled to other locations across the country--vacation time?
