F-unit Friday: CN in Jasper

Still finding F-units half way through the 70s!

1. CN 9174 at Jasper, AB on October 2, 1975.
Original Kodachrome trader slide by Dick Stephenson, from the late James W. Watson collection.

Thanks for looking back!

These two would have been "trunkers", power for the old Grand Trunk Pacific line, which took off from the mainline at Redpass Jct, and headed for Prince George. Lovely photo.

Interesting info! And a logical explanation for why F units would still be around in 1975…

These were remanufactured units of which 18 A units, 3 B units, and 8 A units converted to B status by blanking off the cab, survived into 1989 but were retired in that year. Also served on the Prairies, some in Ontario (Nanticoke steel train was maybe the most famous example), and some with shrouds for plow service.
