Amtrak #6 meets SP helpers at Newcastle [1995]

I was lucky. I got ahead of Amtrak #6 leaving Roseville and barely got set up to catch it near Tunnel #18 at Newcastle. A set of helper engines were dispatched from Colfax to assist an uphill train at Rocklin. Good times on SP Donner Pass.

I always thought the red/white/blue stripes of the 80's and early 90's were nicer and brighter as opposed to the newer blander schemes.

Nice catch. Surprising how accessible that location is, although with today's traffic you need a pretty good head start.
