A UP Birthday Present to Me.

I was railfanning Cajon Pass on my birthday on 3-14-99 and was lucky enough to catch the UP E units on an officer's special. I had no idea they were coming and got lucky and saw them when I was passing over the 138 overpass. The chase was on!

1 at Phelan on Stein's Hill.
2. Cajon Siding
3. Blue Cut.

I went to Beamont the next day on 3-15-99 and I was lucky enough to catch them heading East. I was the only railfan chasing them that day.

1 is my final shot on Cajon
2 is at Ordawy
3 at Beaumont.

Great stuff!  
Back then, one could still chase a train from Hwy 138 to Cajon, and arrive in time to get another shot.  Today the traffic on Hwy 138 and I-15 would prevent that.
