Nostalgia & History > Sunday morning Santa Fe . . .Date: 07/27/25 06:17 Sunday morning Santa Fe . . . Author: 3rdswitch . . . back in APR '76 caught the 8774 leading an eastbound just starting it's return trip to San Bernardino on the 2nd District (would become the Pasadena Sub ten years later) at the old station of Water Street just a couple of miles from downtown Los Angeles. This was Santa Fe's original entry into Los Angeles and this train will be working hard climbing for the next ten miles or so. Palm trees lining the parking lot at Dodger stadium can be seen on the hill in the distance. Today neither Santa Fe nor this end of the old Psadena Sub see trains as this is now the right of way of Los Angeles Metro Gold Line lite rail.

I got a picture of the Water Street station sign, but never with a train there. I'm trying to figure out what the tall tower thing in the background was?
