O&NW for a location
Author: santafe199

Here’s a partial snippet from Wikipedia: “The Oregon and Northwestern Railroad (O&NW) is a defunct railroad in eastern Oregon in the United States. It ran 50.2 miles (80.8 km) from Hines north to Seneca...” Can someone please provide a location for these 2 image? TIA for the help...

1. O&NW 2 at Hines, OR*.

2. O&NW caboose 300 at Hines, OR*.
Two original slides taken in the Summer of 1978 by Dean Lewis.

Thanks for the help!

I'd say it's at their base of Hines, OR - home of the O&NW shops and adjacent to the Edward Hines Mill.

JDLX would know for sure.  I have a copy of the Arcadia Publishing book 'Oregon and Northwestern Railroad' (by he and Wayne Monger), but not handy.

This is a good primer from Jeff about the O&NW:

And thankfully you can still enjoy the 300 in person if you visit the Western Pacific Museum in Portola, CA.    The #2 on the other hand used up all of it's 9 lives and at best lives one as a donor of some parts to support the ongoing life sisters 1, 3 and 4 are living (and possibly other Baldwin units too?).

It's Hines.  Note the lumber shed in the background of both, part of the huge mill there.
