Nostalgia & History > 1930s aerial of Easton PA, Phillipsburg NJDate: 07/31/25 17:50 1930s aerial of Easton PA, Phillipsburg NJ Author: Lackawanna484 Timz's posting of the Point of Rocks pictures sent me to look for Easton PA. In this picture, the Delaware River flows from upper left to right center, the Lehigh River comes in at the bottom. The CNJ, and Lehigh Valley rail bridges are clear, as is the L&HR bridge. The remnants of the Morris Canal are visible on the NJ bank, as is the Pennsylvania Railroad's Bel-Del. The DL&W + CNJ station is visible, too

Thanks Date: 08/01/25 07:25 Re: 1930s aerial of Easton PA, Phillipsburg NJ Author: thebluecomet Yes, the view looks northeast by compass direction toward NJ. At the center are the two parallel bridges of the CNJ and the Lehigh Valley. The LV curves down toward the photographer and their passenger station is within that short straight section where the light colored road bridge crosses the Lehigh River. The L&HR bridge swings off to the left (north) from the CNJ side as it crosses the Delaware River to connect to the PRR. The light colored road bridge just below the small cloud is known as the Free Bridge and is still in use today. The former PRR yard in Phillipsburg is just off to the right on the NJ side hidden by the cloud. In the lower center, the bridge crossing the Lehigh River is the LV Easton & Northern branch. The LV's Easton roundhouse is also visible.
