The Super Continental reminds me of my Grandparents who were passholders and rode the train a couple of times per year. Always sent me postcards with PR photos of the trains.

I don't have a definitive answer other than Ontario Northland trains 49 & 50 were jointly operated by CN and ON using CN track between North Bay and Toronto. Furthermore, according to the June 1954 Official Guide (ie, some 20 years prior to my photo captured at Toronto), the northernmost point on the ON that the Northland serviced was Cochrane, Ontario where the CN National Transcontinental route crossed. According to this Guide, sleeper service was offered on 49 & 50 between Toronto and Kapuskasing ON via CN west of Cochrane (~70 miles) 5 days/week on CN trains 149 & 150. So maybe CN's FPA was used to operate that service west of Cochrane? Perhaps others know for certain. |
