Nostalgia & History > Wayback Wednesday on Prince Edward IslandDate: 09/03/25 05:36 Wayback Wednesday on Prince Edward Island Author: march_hare It's May of 1987, and the future of railroading on Prince Edward Island is looking grim. A local is returning an empty boxcar, but I don't have a location for this one.

PE's roads have not withstood the truck traffic created in making the longest ski-doo trail in the world. It was even too much trouble to leave in a tourist railroad for the "Anne of Green Gables" crowd, which is considerable.

When the desicion was made to go for private/profit thousands of miles of track were abandoned. I hired on CN in 1978 and retired in 2015, saw a lot of changes, not all good. The EHH years were a dark chapter.
