Cotton Belt geep in the night
Author: santafe199

In August of 1980 I went on a week-long railfan vacation swing down through central Oklahoma, northeastern Texas, northwestern Arkansas and back up through eastern Oklahoma and eastern Kansas. It was a very productive excursion, start to finish! Here’s an overnight look at Cotton Belt territory:

1. SSW 3872 takes a snooze on the night of August 19, 1980.

I found a motel room and did some snoozing myself…

2. The next day -August 20, 1980- the 3872 is ready for another day’s work
Two photos taken in Corsicana, TX.

Thanks for looking back!

Great photos. That light on the locomotive in the night  is the red light that wen on when the brakes
were applied as a result of big hole, or until around 1970 as rear marker as a helper unit or lite power move.
FRA ruled marker use out around 1970.
