Nostalgia & History > Just Another Roster Shot - N&W 412Date: 10/03/25 06:07 Just Another Roster Shot - N&W 412 Author: refarkas N&W 412 (ALCO RS-36) is in the N&W engine facility in Brewster, Ohio in June 1978. I was surprised to find out she was a ALCO RS-36 instead of the more common ALCO RS-11. Also, I have no idea about what seems to be striping.

Back in the late 1960's there was a brief period of time when the New Haven's diesels would come out of the loco. wash at Cedar Hill with this type of striping on the cab , how the hoods look that way with the side handrails is another head scratcher . Always good to see an Alco !

The stripes make me think of Nickel Plate, but I don't know what they had and what N&W units they became. The N&W louvred filter covers were always distinctive. I got a lot of these from the first person I ever traded slides with.
